China counterattack: impose tariffs on imported products from the United States (list of products)

In March 23, 2018, the Ministry of Commerce issued a list of discontinued products for the 232 measures for the import of steel and aluminum products in the United States and sought public opinion to impose tariff on some imported products from the United States in order to balance the losses caused by the US tariff imposed on imported steel and aluminum products to Chinese interests. The Ministry of Commerce spokesman made a talk about it.

The list contains 7 categories and 128 tax products. According to the 2017 statistics, it involves US $3 billion export to China. The first part of the total 120 taxes, involving US $977 million US exports to China, including fresh fruit, dried fruit and nut products, wine, modified ethanol, ginseng, seamless steel pipe and other products, will be added to the tariff of 15%. The second part of the total 8 taxes, involving US $1 billion 992 million export to China, including pork and products, aluminum recovery and other products, to levy a 25% tariff.
The United States takes 25% and 10% tariffs on imported steel and aluminum products on the ground of "national security" as a safeguard measure. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the WTO safeguards agreement, the Chinese side has drawn up a list of suspension of concessions. If China and the United States fail to reach a trade compensation agreement within the prescribed time, the Chinese side will exercise the right to reduce the discontinuation of the first part of the product, and the Chinese side will carry out the second part list after the further assessment of the impact of the United States measures on China. China reserves the right to adjust the measures according to the actual situation, and will perform the necessary procedures in accordance with the relevant rules of the WTO.
The United States restricted the import of products on the basis of "national security", seriously undermining the multilateral trading system represented by the WTO, seriously interfering with the normal international trade order, and has been opposed by many WTO members. The Chinese side also negotiated with the United States through various levels and channels, and will take legal action under the framework of the WTO and jointly maintain the stability and authority of the multilateral trade rules with other WTO members.
As the top two economies in the world, cooperation between China and the United States is the only right choice between the two countries.
